10 World's Highest Paid Musician

Forbes.com just released the top highest paid musicians in the world. 
Irish rockers U2 top the list at $195 million, made largely through what Forbes calls “the most lucrative tour in the history of music. While teen pop sensation Justin Bieber of Stratford, Ont., ranked No. 9 with $53 million, making him the youngest on the list.



1.) U2  $195 Million
U2 are an Irish rock band from Dublin. Formed in 1976, U2's early sound was indebted to post-punk but eventually grew to incorporate influences from many genres of popular music. By the mid-1980s, they became a top international act. They were more successful as live performers than they were at selling records, until their 1987 breakthrough album The Joshua Tree, which, according to Rolling Stone, elevated the band's stature "from heroes to superstars”. U2 have released 12 studio albums and are among the best-selling groups in popular music, having sold more than 150 million records worldwide. They have won 22 Grammy Awards, more than any other band. In 2005, U2 were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in their first year of eligibility.



2.) Bon Jovi  $125 Million
Bon Jovi is an American hard rock band from Sayreville, New Jersey. Formed in 1983. The band became known for writing several rock anthems and achieved widespread recognition with their third album, Slippery When Wet, released in 1986. The band have released eleven studio albums, three compilation albums and one live album, and have sold 130 million records worldwide. They have performed more than 2,600 concerts in over 50 countries for more than 34 million fans, and were inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2006. The band was also honored with the Award of Merit at the American Music Awards in 2004.



3.) Elton John  $100 Million
 Sir Elton John is an English singer, composer and pianist. He has worked with lyricist Bernie Taupin as his songwriter partner since 1967; they have collaborated on more than 30 albums to date.
In his four-decade career John has sold more than 250 million records, making him one of the most successful artists of all time. His single "Candle in the Wind 1997" has sold over 33 million copies worldwide, and is the best selling single in Billboard history. He has more than 50 Top 40 hits, including seven consecutive No. 1 US albums, 56 Top 40 singles, 16 Top 10, four No. 2 hits, and nine No. 1 hits. He has won six Grammy Awards, an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award and a Tony Award.



4.) Lady Gaga  $90 Million
Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, better known by her stage name Lady Gaga, is an American pop singer-songwriter. Gaga came to prominence following the release of her debut studio albumThe Fame (2008), which was a critical and commercial success and achieved international popularity with the singles "Just Dance" and "Poker Face". Gaga is well-recognized for her outré sense of style in fashion, in performance and in her music videos. Her contributions to the music industry have garnered her numerous achievements including five Grammy Awards, among twelve nominations; two Guinness World Records; and the estimated sale of 15 million albums and 51 million singles worldwide. Billboard named her the Artist of the Year in 2010, ranking her as the 73rd Artist of the 2000s decade.



5.) Michael Buble  $70 Million
Michael Steven Bublé is a Canadian singer. He has won several awards, including two Grammy Awards and multiple Juno Awards. His first album reached the top ten in Canada and the UK. He found worldwide commercial success with his 2005 album It's Time, and his 2007 album Call Me Irresponsible was an even bigger success, reaching number one on the Canadian Albums Chart, the U.S. Billboard 200 chart, the Australian ARIA Albums Chart and the European charts. Bublé has sold more than 35 million albums worldwide.



6.) Paul McCartney  $67 Million
Sir James Paul McCartney, is an English musician, singer-songwriter and composer. Formerly of The Beatles (1960–1970) and Wings (1971–1981), McCartney is the most commercially successful songwriter in the history of popular music, according to Guinness World Records. BBC News Online readers named McCartney the "greatest composer of the millennium", and BBC News cites his Beatles song "Yesterday" as the mostcovered song in the history of recorded music—by over 2,200 artists and since its 1965 release, has been played more than 7,000,000 times on American television and radio according to the BBC. McCartney is listed in Guinness World Records as the "most successful musician and composer in popular music history", with 60 gold discs and sales of 100 million singles in the UK. McCartney was responsible for 32 number one singles on the US BillboardHot 100 chart, and has sold 15.5 million RIAA certified albums in the US alone.



7.) The Black Eyed Peas  $61 Million
The Black Eyed Peas are an American hip hop group, formed in Los Angeles, California in 1995. The group is composed of rapper and multi-instrumentalist will.i.am, rappers apl.de.ap and Taboo, and singer-rapper Fergie. Since the release of their third album,Elephunk, in 2003, the group has sold an estimated 56 million records worldwide. In 2009, the group became one of only 11 artists to have ever simultaneously held the No.1 and No.2 spots on the Billboard Hot 100, with their singles "Boom Boom Pow" and "I Gotta Feeling", with the next single "Meet Me Halfway" achieving similar success, from the album The E.N.D. Combined, these three singles also topped the chart for an unprecedented 30 consecutive weeks in 2009.



8.) The Eagles  $60 Million
The Eagles are an American rock band formed in Los Angeles, Californiain 1971 by Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Bernie Leadon and Randy Meisner.
With five number one singles, six Grammys, five American Music Awards, and six number one albums, the Eagles were one of the most successful musical acts of the 1970s. At the end of the 20th century, two of their albums, Their Greatest Hits (1971–1975) and Hotel California, ranked among the 20 best-selling albums in the U.S. according to theRecording Industry Association of America. They also have the best selling album in the U.S. withTheir Greatest Hits (1971–1975), which sold more than 29 million copies. They have sold over 120 million albums worldwide and 100 million in the U.S. alone. 



9.) Justin Bieber  $53 Million
Justin Drew Bieber is a Canadian pop/R&B singer-songwriter and actor. Bieber was discovered in 2008 by Scooter Braun, who happened to come across Bieber's videos on YouTube and later became his manager. His debut single, "One Time", released worldwide in 2009, peaked in the top ten in Canada and charted in the top thirty in several international markets. His debut release, My World, followed on November 17, 2009, and was eventually certified platinum in the United States. He became the first artist to have seven songs from a debut album chart on the Billboard Hot 100.  Bieber's first full studio release, My World 2.0, was released on March 23, 2010 and has since received similar success; it debuted at number one and within the top ten of several countries, and was certified platinum in the United States. It was preceded by the worldwide top-ten single, "Baby", in January 2010. The music video of "Baby" is currently ranked as the most viewed and most discussed YouTube video. Bieber has been nominated and awarded numerous accolades over the past few years, winning Artist of the Year at the 2010 American Music Awards, and being nominated for Best New Artist and Best Pop Vocal Album at the53rd Grammy Awards, among others. 



10.) Dave Matthews Band  $51 Million


Dave Matthews Band, sometimes shortened to DMB, is a U.S. rock band formed in Charlottesville, Virginia in 1991. Founding members weresinger-songwriter and guitarist Dave Matthews, bassist Stefan Lessard,drummer/backing vocalist Carter Beauford and saxophonist LeRoi Moore. Boyd Tinsley was added to the band as a violinist soon after the band was formed. With musicians who each have roots in differing genres, including jazz, classical, soul, rock, bluegrass, andhip-hop, the band has come together to create an eclectic sound which has earned them fans from a variety of quarters. As of 2010, Dave Matthews Band have approximate sales between 30 and 40 million copies worldwide.
